Things To Do On An Adults-Only Trip to Disney World!

As a mom, seeing the happiness on my children's faces as they experience the magic of a Disney vacation is priceless to me! Disney will forever be associated with childhood and childlike wonder, and it is a truly magical place to travel with little ones. However, Disney World is also a wonderful place to vacation even if there are no children in your party! I experienced that firsthand recently when my husband and I went by ourselves to Orlando for a few days. We had so much fun doing Disney as adults that we've already started planning to come back again for our next big anniversary! So, here are a few ideas for fun things you can do if you're planning your own adults-only trip to Disney World!

Did you know that you can rent boats at Disney? You totally can! You can rent a speed boat, book a fishing excursion, and even take a fireworks cruise! You can also go parasailing, tubing, wake boarding, and water skiing! The Contemporary Resort in particular has a great selection of watersport rentals available, but you can rent a boat at any Disney resort that has a marina (i.e. the deluxe resorts that have direct access to a body of water). If you don't want to invest in a rental but still want to enjoy a nice boat ride, you can take a boat for free from Disney Springs to Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter. You can also take a boat for free between the Magic Kingdom resorts. The friendship boats will transport you for free between the Epcot area resorts. So, if the lake life is your thing, be sure to build some time into your grown-up Disney trip to take a break from the parks and get out on the water!

If you're in the mood to relax a little on your adults-only Disney vacation, be sure to book a spa day at one of the Disney resorts. Senses Spa has two locations: one at the Grand Floridian and one at Saratoga Springs. If you're looking for a spa in the Epcot resort area, Mandara Spa at the Walt Disney World Dolphin is a great option. If you're just looking to get a massage, you can do that at Ship Shape at the Yacht Club, Zahanati at Animal Kingdom Lodge, or La Vida Health Club at Coronado Springs. There are so many great options for relaxing at Disney World!

There is so much for adults to do at Disney Springs that it practically qualifies as its own theme park. There is excellent shopping from top shelf retailers that you know and love. There is also a lot of great food! If fine dining from famous chefs is your thing, you can find that at Disney Springs. If you're looking for unique culinary offerings or a relaxed, casual dining atmosphere, you can find that too. Disney Springs is also home to a luxury bowling alley and a movie theater. You'll find great nightlife too, including live entertainment. Definitely budget some time on your adults-only Disney vacation to check out Disney Springs!

Paddlefish is one of many excellent dining options at Disney Springs!

Amorette's Patisserie has an amazing selection of pastries and other desserts! You can even take a cake decorating class!

Disney resort hotels have the theming, attention to detail, and level of customer service that you expect from Disney, with a sense of hospitality that is truly unmatched. Add to that the fact that the resorts are home to some of the best restaurants on Disney property, and it's totally worth taking some time to tour the resorts on your adults-only Disney trip. Check out the great food and shopping at Disney's Boardwalk. Hang out in the lobby of the Grand Floridian and listen to the jazz band play. Eat lunch at Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge: you'll have a great view of the animals on the Savannah. Book a late dinner at 'Ohana in the Polynesian Village Resort and ask for a fireworks view table so you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks while you eat! There are so many fun things to do at the resorts that they are definitely worth visiting!

Epcot may in fact be the most "grown-up" park at Disney World due to its focus on culture and technology. The crowning jewel of Epcot is World Showcase which is home to the amazing country pavilions that allow you to experience great food, merchandise, live entertainment, and cultural demonstrations from around the world. Epcot is also home to seasonal festivals that bring even more amazing food and experiences into the park. The first festival of the year is the International Festival of the Arts which celebrates culinary, visual, and performing arts. There are a lot of performances, seminars, and tasting opportunities to enjoy! In the spring is the Flower and Garden Festival where the park comes alive with beautiful flowers and elaborate topiaries. You can sample some tasty examples of garden fresh food and enjoy the Garden Rocks Concert series. In the fall, you can enjoy the Food and Wine Festival along with the Eat to the Beat Concert series. And during the holidays, you can enjoy Epcot's Festival of the Holidays and learn about the holiday traditions of each country in World Showcase. You can also taste their traditional holiday foods. These festivals provide you with opportunities to enjoy yourself while learning more about the world around you; this makes them a great part of an adults-only Disney trip!
